This was a collaboration (a long time in the making ) with my fam at In The Ring Productions. They did everything: directing, shooting, editing, etc., to create the music video. I basically just told them that I wanted to bring the story from “Sick Hook” to life. My schedule as an independent Miami Hip Hop artist is so hectic and busy that I have to STEAL time to write and record. Namely, my car is the scene of most of these compositions. This is how the song “Sick Hook” came to life (read more about the song “Sick Hook” here). The video was not done low budget…. it was actually done with NO budget! Just creativity and hustle. I guess I paid to put gas in my car and food for the film crew. My homies MoeTive and Cesar G volunteered on separate days to put in work (much love!!) Yes, I wish I had 4 clones of me running around so I can actually have time to put out more records and watch this thing called “TV” that I hear so much about.

About:
This was recorded in 2003 back when I was recording at Song/The Lab Studios with Caliba, Twizzo and the other artists in the video. This is obviously before the creation of Tha Union and from the looks of the video you would have imagined that we had enough rappers and producers in that room to kick out albums and videos for years. But that projected ended in early 2003 after the release of the Songo Sampler then in that summer Tha Union was born and before the year was up the first Union Sampler was released. These were all freestyles – you can find more music from Twizzo at his MySpace page.

This compilation of clips is of shows byt Tha Union (CTRAFFIK & Caliba) featuring DJ Self Born. The clips are from 2005-2006 and this first one was a live show down in Florida City. The second clip is from a show in South Beach. Personally, I always love doing shows in Florida City because those crowds are among the most hype and most fun to entertain because they WANT to be entertained.

About:
This music video is for the song Bush Crime Family from the CD Rushed Again. The video itself is modeled after the Jib Jab style of political-musical-videos. My actual hand was used as a stunt double for both LBJ and Dick Cheney. Bush, LBJ and JFK are all wearing the same suit. I originally wanted Daddy Bush (HW) to wear the suit but it was funnier to leave him in a school boy uniform throughout the video. In the JFK scene I included Fidel Castro to hint at the Bay of Pigs and Marylin Monroe to suggest that JFK wasn’t exactly a great husband or model citizen. When Daddy Bush is trading with the “enemy” the Ayatollah and Oliver North represent Iran Contra, Manuel Noriega represents the Panamanian drug running (which explains the packs of cocaine mixed in with the money bags that Bush receives as payment) and Osama Bin Laden represents the arming of the Afghan Guerrillas (Taliban/Mujahideen) by the CIA when they were at war with the Soviets. When Hitler is sitting on the skulls he is wearing a Russian foot-soldier uniform decorated with his Nazi shit to look like it’s his own. It has tough getting full bodies for these characters in a form that we could animate. There are so many small details in this video that you gotta watch it a few times to catch it all.

This interview took place around the end of the year in 2006. The camera guy was Isnel who I know from back in the day but I have no idea what he was pointing the camera at (the clouds painted on the wall?) I also need to remind him how to spell my name… sometimes to find me on YouTube you gotta search for “Tha Union” or “Caliba” instead… but in time people will know “See-tee-are-ay-double-F-I-kay”.
